1 fave. 0 comments. Uploaded on November 3, 2015 A couple of days ago I bought an Exakta Varex IIb body to go with my Exakta Varex IIa which I bought a few weeks ago. This camera was bought from eBay for only £10 because it needed a repair, so my first job when I received it was to get the shutter unit out in order to see what was wrong with it. Then came the IIb in '63; the VX1000 in '67 (with an instant-return mirror, at last); and finally the last trapezoidal classic Exakta, the VX500, in '69.

Richard Hummel führt diese Version der Exakta deshalb ohne weitere Differenzierungen als Modell-Nr. 028 auf. The Varex IIa (or VX IIa, depending on the market) was quite long-lived, being made from 1957 to 1963 and possibly marked the height of the Exakta's reign on the SLR market. Actually, I bought it because of one of the lenses bundled with it, shown in the picture: the legendary 1.5/75 Zeiss Biotar. Exakta Varex IIb is a 35mm film SLR camera manufactured by Ihagee Kamerawerk Steenbergen & Co, Dresden, former East Germany and produced between 1963-67. See also Exakta Kine and Varex Series list. The rewind knob has a crank handle, and there is no longer a finder release knob. Both Exakta bodies are in generally good condition, slight bubbling of the leather on the Varex IIa around the rivets, clean on the IIb. No dents or dings on the body castings or back pressings.
